* In the March 4, 2012 edition of the Erie Times News, Section N page 8, Cyndie Zahner reported that the Pennsylvania average ratio of police officers to citizens is 2.62 officers per 1000 residents. She also reported that the City of Erie has an average of 1.66 officers per 1000 population. Based on the above numbers, our department is currently staffed at a level of 1.10 officers (59 officers) per 1000 population (53,515 as of the 2010 census).
